Following the departure of Ian Higginson our Musical Director of 30 years in January, CCS embarked on a recruitment process early this year for his successor. During the interim we have been very fortunate to work with Paul Collacott, conductor of the Minster Singers, Cheltenham. We thank them both for their care and dedication to us and wish them the best in their musical futures.
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Alexander Thacker as our Musical Director, from September 2019. Alex is a talented and dedicated musician and the conductor of several musical groups.
We very much look forward to welcoming Alex to our Bethesda rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and to work with him towards the future development of our Choral Society.
We present below a résumé of Alex’s qualifications and work:
Alexander Thacker, MMus, BMus(hons), will be taking on the appointment as Musical Director of Cheltenham Choral Society from September 2019.
